Campuses to Prayer Walk

Why are we prayer-walking campuses on SBMT?

San Antonio is home to 14 universities with over 100,000 students. Four years ago, there was only one BSM staffer in all of San Antonio. One! God has given Texas BSM the vision to grow expand our ministry in San Antonio by raising up new staff members who will move and plant new ministries in San Antonio. Now there are FIVE staff members working on four campuses - praise God!

Maverick BSM is going to prayer walk each San Antonio campus to ask God to break down barriers and raise up workers so the gospel can be proclaimed in San Antonio. Would you pray fervently? Maybe God wants some of US to be part of this new ministry!

Instructions

  • Pick a campus, drive there, park (legally), and walk around in a group. As you walk, pray out loud over the campus. You don’t have to close your eyes, just talk to God one at a time in the group.

  • Pray over the students, the faculty, and the administration. Pray for God to move in their hearts.

  • Pray for the BSM staff in San Antonio: Nelly, Rudy, Estrella, Angela, and Ilsy

  • If you see anyone on campus feel free to approach them and respectfully ask if there is anything you can pray for them about.

  • Pray Scripture over the campus, like:

    • Romans 10:14-17

    • Philippians 4:6-7

    • Isaiah 6:8

    • Isaiah 49:6

  • Be ready to share at the next group meeting!

Campus Assessment

As you drive to the campus, do some research and see if you can find some information about your campus. You can research it online or by looking around campus.

  • What’s the student enrollment?

  • What kind of campus is it? (community, state, private, religious, etc)

  • What are the main majors, programs, etc?

  • What kinds of things does the campus advertise? What does that tell you about campus?

  • Are there any religious organizations on campus? What are they?

Daily Devotionals

Sunday Scripture

Psalm 25

Dependence on the Lord

Of David

Lord, I appeal to you.
My God, I trust in you.
Do not let me be disgraced;
do not let my enemies gloat over me.
No one who waits for you
will be disgraced;
those who act treacherously without cause
will be disgraced.

Make your ways known to me, Lord;
teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
I wait for you all day long.
Remember, Lord, your compassion
and your faithful love,
for they have existed from antiquity.
Do not remember the sins of my youth
or my acts of rebellion;
in keeping with your faithful love, remember me
because of your goodness, Lord.

The Lord is good and upright;
therefore he shows sinners the way.
He leads the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
10 All the Lord’s ways show faithful love and truth
to those who keep his covenant and decrees.
11 Lord, for the sake of your name,
forgive my iniquity, for it is immense.

12 Who is this person who fears the Lord?
He will show him the way he should choose.
13 He will live a good life,
and his descendants will inherit the land.
14 The secret counsel of the Lord
is for those who fear him,
and he reveals his covenant to them.
15 My eyes are always on the Lord,
for he will pull my feet out of the net.

16 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am alone and afflicted.
17 The distresses of my heart increase;
bring me out of my sufferings.
18 Consider my affliction and trouble,
and forgive all my sins.
19 Consider my enemies; they are numerous,
and they hate me violently.
20 Guard me and rescue me;
do not let me be disgraced,
for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and what is right
watch over me,
for I wait for you.

22 God, redeem Israel, from all its distresses.

Monday Scripture

Psalm 46

God Our Refuge

For the choir director. A song of the sons of Korah. According to Alamoth.

God is our refuge and strength,
a helper who is always found
in times of trouble.
Therefore we will not be afraid,
though the earth trembles
and the mountains topple
into the depths of the seas,
though its water roars and foams
and the mountains quake with its turmoil.Selah

There is a river—
its streams delight the city of God,
the holy dwelling place of the Most High.
God is within her; she will not be toppled.
God will help her when the morning dawns.
Nations rage, kingdoms topple;
the earth melts when he lifts his voice.
The Lord of Armies is with us;
the God of Jacob is our stronghold.Selah

Come, see the works of the Lord,
who brings devastation on the earth.
He makes wars cease throughout the earth.
He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces;
he sets wagons ablaze.
10 “Stop fighting, and know that I am God,
exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”
11 The Lord of Armies is with us;
the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah

Tuesday Scripture

Psalm 63

Praise God Who Satisfies

A psalm of David. When he was in the Wilderness of Judah.

God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you.
I thirst for you;
my body faints for you
in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water.
So I gaze on you in the sanctuary
to see your strength and your glory.

My lips will glorify you
because your faithful love is better than life.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
at your name, I will lift up my hands.
You satisfy me as with rich food;
my mouth will praise you with joyful lips.

When I think of you as I lie on my bed,
I meditate on you during the night watches
because you are my helper;
I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.
I follow close to you;
your right hand holds on to me.

But those who intend to destroy my life
will go into the depths of the earth.
10 They will be given over to the power of the sword;
they will become a meal for jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God;
all who swear by him will boast,
for the mouths of liars will be shut.

Wednesday Scripture

Psalm 103

The Forgiving God

Of David

My soul, bless the Lord,
and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
My soul, bless the Lord,
and do not forget all his benefits.

He forgives all your iniquity;
he heals all your diseases.
He redeems your life from the Pit;
he crowns you with faithful love and compassion.
He satisfies you with good things;
your youth is renewed like the eagle.

The Lord executes acts of righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
He revealed his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel.
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in faithful love.
He will not always accuse us
or be angry forever.
10 He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve
or repaid us according to our iniquities.

11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his faithful love
toward those who fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed
our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.
14 For he knows what we are made of,
remembering that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are like grass—
he blooms like a flower of the field;
16 when the wind passes over it, it vanishes,
and its place is no longer known.
17 But from eternity to eternity
the Lord’s faithful love is toward those who fear him,
and his righteousness toward the grandchildren
18 of those who keep his covenant,
who remember to observe his precepts.
19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.

20 Bless the Lord,
all his angels of great strength,
who do his word,
obedient to his command.
21 Bless the Lord, all his armies,
his servants who do his will.
22 Bless the Lord, all his works
in all the places where he rules.
My soul, bless the Lord!
